my best koi to date..

when i was in Yokohama i asked my friend and mentor Takayuki San at Slap Stick Tattoo "whats the trick to drawing koi ?"
all i remember him telling me while he puffed on his cig..."koi fish very easy"
with practice i can see where he's coming from...
yet this one was a challenge and learning experience mos def.

when she explained the headcount i was a bit intimidated about taking on the challenge...
but i guess this is the only way you can grow as an artist...
forcing determination on yourself..

i always dreaded multiple face portraits..mostly because you can screw the whole thing up regardless of having spent hours on hours being cautious as possible..just strokes away from a finished piece.

fortunately this time i saved it...

not my most accurate work..however this piece was a personal win.

aside from working my part time gig at the WHITTIER FUN CENTER (motorcycle shop) its been my pleasure to be able to chop it up with the creative gang at HURST INDZ. headquarters in Anaheim....
whether burnin' or learnin' its always a motivating night at the shop.
